Input of operands and output of results

Kontakt

Instructions

  1. Input:
Input operands are fixed-point numbers in the range -1 < Input < +1. You can enter the operands in decimal, sign-magnitude or 2`s complement representation. They will be rounded to the next smallest number which can be represented in the number format given. Return, Tab or mouse click will shortcut the input.
  2. Operation:
Select the desired operation you wish to visualize.
  3. Result direct:
The result will be calculated without starting the visualization.
  4. Visualization:
The sequence of the algorithm will be demonstrated in detail.

Remarks:

Notice that multiplication will always lead to a result of at most 15 bits, the rightmost (least significant) bit always being zero. In contrast, before division can start, a multi-fold of illegal cases has to be excluded which either are undefined (divisor = zero) or cause a result which cannot be represented in the number format given. Therefore, the initial operand evaluation may prevent a division, while after completion result and reminder require correction.
